Default Sunday Mil TP2K against extremely drawy board

From what I have seen villain is laggy and when I first got to the table he open raised 3 hands in a row to 3x in mid-late position. I haven't him play any significant pots postflop. He seems capable of folding if he completely misses the flop, and I don't think he'd raise this spot with just a bare 8 without a club. I really feel like I should have shoved over his flop raise the more I think about it, but I'm still very hung up here. I think I'm ahead of his range but not by much as he could also have TP with many different draws, and maybe AT or T9 and very occasionally a set. Also I think should've bet closer to full pot on the flop, but I'd think villain would raise this spot regardless of how much I bet, right? Would a shove on the flop be a better play? I think I just screwed up this spot royally by overthinking too much, so how would others play this spot?

Anyone?

I didn't have a great read on villain here either, so what would be the default play against an unknown?

I think I check the flop and play from there. I really don't know its worst flop in the world I'm bad in these spots.

If I call his raise I have 4.2k left and he will call when I shove on the turn regardless unless he has complete air (very very unlikely), so it's essentially push or fold at this point. I think it would be a disaster to call and then check-fold if an A came on the turn.
