For anyone that plays there, what games and limits do they spread and is the play pretty soft over there?

[/ QUOTE ]

I would imagine if they are expecting 500-800 players in the prelims, there will be plenty of soft games spread.

Just realized another thing. That the prelim events aren't 1 day events. They are all two day events. So now this means that if I'm flying in on Saturday and flying out tuesday, I can only possibly play in one event. If I make the 2nd day of the Sat event, it will be late to play in the sunday event. And since I'm flying out tuesday night, I cant even play in the monday event (incase i make the 2nd day...i would miss my flight). I just called the Beau Poker room to ask about this, and they stated that play will stop on the first day at either 9 people (the final table) or at 2am [whichever comes first]. I asked, what if the final table is set like at 8pm or something. They said it doesn't matter, play will still stop as soon as we're down to the final 9 or 2am, whichever comes first. Kind of bummed out about this, b/c this means if I do well in the Saturday tourney...I can't play in the sunday or monday tourney.

This 2-day event thing is pretty much how it is at all the WPT and their prelims I think.
The set up of the tournaments is also pretty much the same.

Seriously, do the WPT tournaments really vary that much from one to another? They look to be pretty similar to me.

Also, LOL at the complaint that they set it up as a 2-day event (usually this just means final 9 or final 27 on day 2) while others are also complaining about whether or not the structure will be long enough to supposedly make it worthwhile.

Ummm, you can't have it both ways.
If you want a slightly longer structure then you pretty much have to set it up so that the final table/s are done on a day 2. And even then, with 800 players in a prelim cutting it down to 27 or 9 players in just 1 day is going to be a fastish structure no matter how you try to do it.

Even going from Noon until 2am with a dinner-break it's still not exactly going to be a snail's pace getting from 800 to 27 players.

Can anyone confirm that most of the prelim events are pretty much the same across the WPT? I'm pretty sure it just doesn't change that much and really shouldn't be considered that big a deal regarding your decision of whether or not to attend.

Prolly wont affect my decision but if the structures are really bad, I will just go for the ME & cash games

I went down friday for the first super and checked out the card room as well.
From what i can remember
4/8lhe
1/2 nlhe
2/5 nlhe
5/10 nlhe
interest list of 2pl each for 10/20nlhe and up
10/20 O8 ( I dont Play H/L, so i didnot pay attention as to cap or anyother specifics of the game) did notice there was a full ring for the O8 and a wait.
Only played 2/5nlhe for like one hour before being called to the Sat.
Card room was verry clean, nice. Smokers kept well away from room( unlike others in La.)
Plenty of check runners and waitstaff. Great service.
No problems from the dealers( from my short time)
Floors were very responsive and helpful whenever there was a px or question.
Thats all the useless info i have.
hope it helps
Note: the O8 was limit

So do you register the day of the tournament? If so, how early should we get there? Didn't see any info on the PDF. Thanks.

I am playing in a few of the preliminary events and because I've steadily went off for 200-1000 hand blackjack over the past 5 years, I've never had to pay for a thing at the Beau. I will be flying in hopefully on Aug.30 compliments of the Beau and my host Rose. Also, if any 2+2'ers like to party, the club at the Beau if off the chain. Ive been laid a ton of times from there.

The nightclub called the coast is very nice. I am still of the opinion that the Beau has the best cocktail waitress of any casino in the world, you will have to see for your self.

Hi guys,
Sorry about my lack of posts, I am actually on property at the Beau right now in meetings re the Tournament. This place rocks, and we have some fun stuff planned, including a privately sponsored MVP award that gives a 10K seat to our CP points winner. The structures will be as follows:

$300 events get T2500 and 40 minute levels
$500 events get t2500 and 50 minute levels
10 K event is same as bellagios 4 day structure

$200 evening event is t2000 and 30 minute levels
$500 Mega is t2500 and 30 min levels
$1000 Mega is t3000 and 40 minute levels

singles are 1 and 2 winner varieties, with buy ins from $65 up to $200, and a $1060 for the ME

Blind structure is as follows.

25-25
25-50
50-100
100-200
100-200 25
150-300 25
200-400 50
300-600 75
400-800 100
600-1200 200
800-1600 200
1000-2000 300
1500-3000 400
2000-4000 500
3000-6000 1000
4000-8000 1000
6000-12000 2000
8000-16000 2000
10000-20000 30000
etc., same progression as above, just add zeroes.

expecting field sizes as large as 800-1000, we had to make adjustment downward in starting chips (300 event with 800 playersx2500 chips= 2 million in play, event ends at approx 20k-40k level) this event would last 20 levels, which is 800 minutes, which makes for a full day 1 until 2 am, then a 5 or 6 hour final table. Most of my events are a little quicker in the beginning, but slow down as money approaches, and tons of play in the money. Any players here who have played in my events may have discussed this with me, and it's a characteristic of my events that I feel players appreciate once they have played and gone deep in an event.

Feel free to ask questions, as I will try to check in daily and address your issues.

Thanks, and I hope to see you here....

Bon,
Point taken. Most, if not all other major events I have directed have had at least 5 game types(see 2005 WSOP Circuit, 2007 WPO, 2006 gold strike poker classic). A short time window prevented that here, as we were only avalable to get dates between the Bike and Borgata. Getting a big room block and all the convention space is a miracle in and of itself, considering that the opening weekend is a holiday weekend. I know you like game variety, and I promise that the WPO in January has it, as well as next year's Beau Rivage event.
