Shouldn't you be disappointed at the prospect of his getting playing time? Hardly a productive player anymore IMHO.

[/ QUOTE ]Why is that? Have you seen him play since he got that injury? He hasnt played since then right, or am I forgetting something? Plus he really isn't that old at 33 minus 2 years of not playing.

[/ QUOTE ]He was pretty productive before the injury.

If your saying that the one and a half years off could hurt him that's a different statement. It will take him some time to return to the groove.

"Peterson said the 33-year-old Holmes might initially be placed on the physically unable to perform list to gauge his conditioning and to see how he feels after noncontact drills."

same link. Sounds very hedged to me.

He'll be 34 in October after a 2-year hiatus and only averaged 3.8 YPC in his abbreviated 2005 season.

noodleman, this is stupid. the article specifically said he was "cleared to play." espnnews headline says the same thing.

i dont think anyone interprets this as expecting holmes to step immediately on the field and start bowling over defenders.

point is, the doctors dont believe he has any lingering problems from the injury and is no longer debilitated.
