The most memorable lesson your mum\'s ever taught you?
So what was it? And why did it stick?
In my case, the most memorable lesson my mother has ever taught me was to be a good loser. When I was growing up, I used to go on monkey tilt screaming/scratching/clawing/crying attacks whenever I lost at a game, followed by sulking like a world champion. After getting a couple of complementary beatings - the most memorable one with a wooden hanger which didn't survive the 'educational utilization' - whenever I went ballistic b/c of losing, I finally started to lose more gracefully. Today, I've got a great attitude towards losing which many of my friends admire. So, what is your most memorable lesson from mum? |

I am always wary of those who lose gracefully. A lot of the time I fear they aren't even trying.

[ QUOTE ]
That everybody doesn't wear their emotions on their sleeve. [/ QUOTE ] Aint that the truth. My Mom has recently made me understand that sometimes happiness is a choice. You can either choose to wake up feeling defeated by the day and have that "whoa is me" attitude. Or you can wake up and decide "[censored] it. it's a good day" and as hard as it is to maintain that outlook sometimes I know that it's true. Sometimes you just have to realize that it doesnt matter if you're sad or upset. But it will make a world of difference if you just slap a smile on your face and make the best of what is given to you. |

1. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
2. Don't talk about others behind their back. If you do, eventually others will ask themselves, "I wonder what he says about me when I'm not around?" 3. If you tell a lie, your tongue turns black. (Kept us honest for quite a few years.) |
