Default $114: L5 AQs kinda deep, call shove?

Villain is a pretty bad semi-reg. He's down quite a bit, but I don't see him doing it with trash. I know it's just a SngPT hand, but I have a really hard time putting him on a range. What do you do here?

Tough spot without a read. I'd probably let it go, you're likely in a coinflip situation.

I'd call and either expect a flip or him to be dominated, I wouldn't ever really expect to be behind.

Gee, I wonder why he is down so much

These are always a "I'll put BB all-in with my above average hand, and hope my ginormous bet scares the big stack SB away" type hand. I'd say you are ahead of his range, but not by a ton. Given your current stack size and "ICM tax" you could probably let it go and find better spots later vs this moron, you've got position on him for the most part.

I'm curious to know if you got to see his hand.

yea this is the huge difference between AQs and AK right here. the problem is if you are folding AQs he should be pushing really light. its gotta be a call in NE though right? against someone like this it might be a fold but id still call once in awhile to keep him in check and see what he has

Right, he should be pushing really light if I'm folding AQs, but IMO people like this just aren't aware enough to make those kinds of adjustments. In hindsight, I think I should have let it go, but in-game I ended up calling and he flipped over 66.

I think this is close enough that vs. a bad regular I'd shove. Mainly to make him think twice about doing this again, and also to see what he has. In addition to the fact that we might be ahead of course.

i figure his range to be something like:

77-TT, A9-AQ. calling is +1.2% vs this range in sngpt, but that assumes BB never wakes up with a monster. so you really need to take a bit off the 1.2%.

so as you said, it just comes down to range. i would guess villian is much more likely be to making that silly raise with A8s KQo KJs 66 than he would with AK QQ KK AA.

i find it very rare that someone in this spot is making that raise with a good hand. so i push. who knows, he might even be terrible enough to fold on a rare ocassion.

I'm not folding. Worse case scenario is you're flipping with some dead money, but often you dominate him.
