WEAK! Folding the first is bad... even OOP.

Yeah, guilty as charged. But I'm trying to tighten up a bit in (potentially) difficult spots- until I've got more experience.

I don't think the first hand is a difficult spot at all. With implied odds, you can basically play that for set value alone, which isn't too tough to do.

You know I'm the small blind in the first hand right? 5.5:1.5 in hand 1 and 8.5:2 in hand 2 if the limper folds and the passive button calls. Why wouldn't I have the the implied odds in hand 2 if I do in hand 1?

I think of a few things. First, you're closing the action in hand 1. In hand 2, the button could cap which would suck. Also, your relative position in hand 2 isn't as good. If the SB leads out, you get to call and slowplay or possibly face people with two bets, while in hand 1, if you check/raise the flop, you could possibly trap the cold caller, which he may not have a problem calling.

I'm not saying I hate a call in hand 2, I just prefer a fold. If however you have a read saying the limper is gonna call and see a flop, I think it's much closer and a call may be better.
