Default Canterbury Park rake increase

I wasn't sure if it's already been posted here or not, but CP raised its rake from 4$ max to 5$ max on the 2/4-8/16 games this morning. The 15/30 and 30/60 still have a 4$ max, but now include a jackpot drop.

It's posted on the tables on the stakes cards. I probably wouldn't have noticed but i saw the dealer dropping a red chip. Before I could say WTF, i look down and there it is: 5% rake 5$ max. Dealer confirmed it and said they didn't even know about it until 9:30am (it started at 10am).

Well I dont personally mind since I never won a jp @ Cbury, but it would suck to play small stakes there now.

That sucks.

A somewhat related question: Is Canterbury's 4/8 as easy as it's 3/6? I was considering moving up before hearing this, and this just makes me want to move up more. The only reason I haven't moved up to 4/8 yet is because whenever I observe a game, people always look like they're actually trying, as opposed to 3/6 where people just throw in their chips.

Go directly to 6/12 where the rake is only 5%?

Edit: to answer your question: I don't think the 4/8 is significantly tougher than the 3/6...the variance could be higher due to the 4 chip structure tho...

dromar,

Don't worry about any 4/8 game you sit in. If you make an effort to play well, and study the strat forums and analyze your play, then you'll be fine at any stakes below 30/60
