LOL, I hate arbitrary numerical comparisons too.

Anyway, when I first saw the question, reading it as how much would Arenas score in a normal game plan with the goal of winning for the team, playing for some random mid-major, i was thinking 35. Yes, Arenas is very good, but Duke tends to slow the game down a lot and they play pretty solid team D.

However, after hearing Arenas' "I wouldn't pass. I wouldn't even think about passing" comment, I agree it would be higher, although I can't imagine him dropping 70 or 80. If he's really being that visibily selfish, it's pretty hard for four very good athletes (not counting Paulus) to not be able to stop one great one.

Arenas would be called for traveling no fewer than 10 times in the first half.

Every Duke player for the past decade has pretty much been NBA caliber or very close to it.

The game is 8 minutes shorter.

Shot clock is 11 seconds longer, meaning theoretically fewer shots should be taken.

No continuation, no defensive 3 seconds.

Shorter 3 point line.

He'd score 25.

Anyone who thinks Arenas would average less than 50 ppg if he were on a Div 1 team is insane. He is averaging almost 30 ppg against much much much better teams, there are players in college right now averaging around 25 ppg. The only chance a team would have of slowing him down would be to triple team him. This idea that somehow college defenses are more complex or better at shutting down a talent like Gilbert is really stupid.

Guys, Arenas scores 50 from time to time against NBA teams. Of course 50 is attainable against Duke.

[/ QUOTE ]

many less possessions in a college game. Much less than the 1/6 less time would suggest due to shot clock and game flow. Also, the ability to play team defense verse individual defense is huge.

plus if he's not careful they might throw a wig on him and let the lacrosse team have at him

Duke sucks, he would score at will.

This would be interesting against a good college basketball tema.

who's better? Duke or the Puerto Rican international competition team?

I say Duke with no doubt.

I'm confused - is this post a joke?

exactly, and its not even remotely close. Arenas now is 10x better than Robinson was IN HIS PRIME and 100x better than he was in college. And if Robinson could AVERAGE 30, then Arenas would probably average 45-50. So his high games would be around 80 imo.

[/ QUOTE ]

Let's not go overboard. Arenas is much better than Robinson, but once you get that good it's hard to be THAT much better than anybody else.

[/ QUOTE ]hyperbole obviously, but I doubt theres one person in the world that truly believes that Robinson at any point in his career was better than Arenas now yet alone better when Big Dog was just in college.
