No joke. The whole God Bless America thing made perfect sense in 2001, but carrying it much farther beyond that made it such a great example of FAKE "let's do something to make us feel better about ourselves" patriotism that I can remember in or out of sports. I haven't been to any WS games and they weren't doing this in the CS games. Do they still do take me out to the ballgame at the parks?
