Someone talk me off the ledge...
Since my revitalization into poker, I have played about 1600 hands. So far I'm averaging -1.35 BB/100 at PS .02/.04. This is not my first plunge into cards....I honestly think I am playing good poker, but it seems like I can't hit anything. So I went back and looked. Of those hands I have been dealt PP's 126 times. Of those 126, I saw the flop roughly 11 times. I have a set 6 times. 6 times! Should be more like 12. I am guessing this is all explained by variance? Anyway, I just needed someone to tell me to hang in there and keep grinding, reading, posting etc. I can't even remember what a flush looks like. Anyway hope everyone else is doing better than me.

Re: Someone talk me off the ledge...
how the heck have you only seen the flop 11 times with 126 PP's?
are you only playing AA, KK, QQ? that isnt good poker. |

Re: Someone talk me off the ledge...
As you said, variance is a bugger over only 1600 hands. That said, I wouldn't blame it on variance and happily play on hoping variance will swing my way.
Loosing doesn't necessarily come from being sucked out, that happens all the time. It comes just as much (if not more) from not winning enough when you have the best of it. Sucking out means that your opponents go to far with hands they shouldn't. That in turn means you should value bet your great draws and made hands because they will pay you off. I'm starting to think this is the most common reason why people loose monies at the micros while still playing decent PF. ETA: Another possible problem problem is that you don't recognize all your outs after the flop. I've seen that a lot too. |

[/ QUOTE ] I think that is a typo since he has 6 sets and is complaining since he has only at 1/2 of avg amount of sets. It's < 2K hands... I played almost 1K hands just tonight... sample size is way too small. |

Re: Someone talk me off the ledge...
Like everyone else said 1600 is a small sample size and this could just be variance.

Re: Someone talk me off the ledge...
anyone else notice that he saw the flop 11 times and expected to hit his set 12 times out of that 11? Plus, if you're only seeing 11 flops out of 126, something is wrong with your game.

Re: Someone talk me off the ledge...
Sorry for the typo, of the 111 times I saw the flop with PP, I have hit 6 sets. Looking forward to seeing the November session review thread come up though.
