Hero is in MP with 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

UTG limps, Villain limps, Hero raises, LP calls, SB folds, BB calls, UTG + Villain complete.

5 to a flop of 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (10.5 SB)
Checked to Hero who bets, LP calls, Villain calls.

3 to a turn comes K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (6.5 BB)
Checked to Hero who bets, LP folds, Villain calls.

Heads up to the river, J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (8.5 BB).
Villain checks, Hero checks.

Your pot equity sucks, your hand isn't very strong, you might not even have the best hand, you aren't in position, and nobody's folding.

if no one has a Q or a flopped flush, we have a pretty strong hand. i agree that there are a lot of bad cards that can come on the turn, but this is precisely why we don't want everyone getting to the turn for free. we can't bet for protection per se, but we can bet for value and because laying 11.5:1 is >>>>>> than laying infinity:1.

our flop bet could easily buy us absolute position for the rest of the hand.

i don't understand why you think no one will fold. i would fold all kinds of stuff on this board.
