Villain is 22/17/4 over 25 hands. So I don't have much of a read on him. How should I play the rest of the hand?

I call. It's hard to give him credit for the case A (obv he could have it). There's no point in raising because nothing you beat calls. Call and see what happens on river. If he has KK, QQ, he'll prob check river.

call with intention of calling river. of course they show me 88 so often it's not even funny.

I'd probably squeeze preflop. As played, call, c/c rivers except a jack, which you should open shove.

You can't fold this. You can't raise this. You can donk river, imho. I don't think he will bluff and I don't think he will fold KK/QQ. If he raises I think calling is ok.

you're saying donk the river and call a raise? we are never ahead in that situation unless the river is a J.
