If you're sure about it, then do it, he may not call but it has the added benefit of him not being able to see your hand.

maybe some value,
if he has AA he might put you on a flush draw.

a bet deterrs a bluff and makes it easier to fold a raise.

but its borderline, checking is standard.

I would say if he is a bluffer and you don't really want to check call a small bet is a good idea.

I think it's best to check to induce the bluff here and then call down, assuming you don't have a read that he never or rarely bluffs. If your opponent is an infrequent bluffer (and preferably, is a big call station), then a half-pot or so blocking bet is good.

AA hands are not turning their hands into bluffs.

If you put him on AA a check has more value in that he may try to bluff the str8 cards. Also, if you are going to check/call the flop and then lead the turn when a blank hits, I think that you may as well put a check/raise in on the flop and look to get much more of your stack in on the turn, since you do after all put him on the draw.

betting here is pretty awful unless you really plan on calling a raise

if he has 9TJ in his hand and was drawing to the straight, he got there on the river and is likely to call your value bet. if it wasn't for that, i think it might be safe to throw out a little bet. if you check, you will probably have to call a fairly large bet if he rivered a flush or a straight. by betting out less than that fairly large bet, you save yourself money because he is unlikely to raise with a middlish flush or a straight.

still, in this particular instance i think the best play is to check and then if he bets, rely on how you've seen him play in the past (if he is aggressive and capable of bluffs, you'll probably call, otherwise fold).
