[ QUOTE ]

I don't understand all the hate for hot chicks in avatars. I can understand someone being offended by these avatars, and if someone honestly wanted me to change mine I would. What I don't get is how people just assume that the poster is a frat boy or a jerk or whatever

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't think it's anything nearly that strong for most people. It's certainly not for me. But it seems like a young guy thing to me, kind of the equivalent of having a playboy poster on your dorm room wall. Not really grown up. And the kinkier the avatar, the more it feels like the person is just trying way too hard.

Also: confession time. Amplify, egocidal, and SuitedSixes are exceptions to the "sexually suggestive rule". I really like their avatars. I don't really know why.

Oh wow, didn't realize I posted in the Lounge.

I think avatars and post counts are used by many including myself as an indication of the quality of a poster. I do indeed pay less attention to posters without avatars or with stock avatars.

I've been intending to change mine for quite some time now(partly because it's not properly resized and I have no idea how to fix it) but I have no idea what to change it to. I chose this one because I really like buffy & angel and figured I wanted something from that show(it's cordelia for you people who've watched it), but it's been over a year now since I watched it so I dunno about it anymore.

Also obviously I can't just post without an avatar because then most people will ignore my posts (I do this too)

edit: thinking about it yeah I kinda hate it when people change their avatars because I remember them 10x better than names, so maybe I should just ask someone to resize my current one properly or something (I've tried and failed miserably)

I sort of feel obliged to help out a fellow Buffy-fan, so here ya go:

(Slight minus-points for not choosing Willow though! )

NU Star,

Welcome to the Lounge! Feel free to take your shirt off and make yourself at home. Wookie will be right along with an overpriced microbrew for you to enjoy.

I think at this point, post count is much less of an indicator of posting quality with people completely racking up posts in POG, BBV4Life, and such. If someone has a lot of posts in just a strat forum, that would indicate a good poster generally, but I always think back to people like Dead and Karpinski who racked up insane post counts while being very awful posters. I don't ever judge by post count for off topic forums
