Why does everyone hate on Caesars so much...
Let me preface this buy saying that I'm not really referring to the whole Harrah's (or whoever they are now) ownership, or even the stupid BBJ...
I often see people on this forum saying that they don't like Caesars because the quality of play is tough, tight, etc... I recently moved here, and have been hitting Caesars 1/2 $500 game a lot, and I really really don't see that much of a play difference between there and most other 1/2 rooms, except obv that you can instantly make it a deeper game against players that have absolutely no idea how to play a deepstacked game (I've seen the ole "$12 PF, 3 callers, $15 on the flop, $20 on the turn" line enough times to give me a chubby...). I mean, am I just lookin at a skewed sample that'll eventually shallow out, have the games gotten better... Am I too drunk to notice how tight everyone else is...? |

No, just lucky table assignments.

Re: Why does everyone hate on Caesars so much...
My experiences last time I was there were very good. I felt it was the best 1/2 daytime poker I saw that trip. I normally don't play 1/2 though so I have no basline. But it was weak-tight overall with a few C-stations. What's not to like about that?

Re: Why does everyone hate on Caesars so much...
There are a few reasons why I personally do not like Caesars room any more. When it first opened, I played there regularly for about a month, but it got old rather quickly.
First the good stuff. The $500 nax on the 1/2 game. I like having the higher max buy in. $200 max found most other places is simply not enough in my opinion. Having a rack of red to start is a nice step up from a a venilla $200 max game. The large spread out room allows for more elbow room in general. However, the bad stuff outweighs the good, in my opinion. 1. The boring/sterile aspect of the room. Granted, I haven't been back since they "remodeled", but from what I recall, it was a banquet/bingo hall with poker tables, which was just a little too sterile for my taste, and allowed for little atmosphere. 2. Parking. Why go to a room that makes you trek through the whole damn casino just to play cards when there are other rooms with a nice short walk with same or better action. 3. High Hand Jackpots. With the addition of a jackpot drop, a new element has been added to thier room which is not necessarily a good thing. It takes them out of the good company of Venetian, Bellagio, Mirage, and Wynn, and puts them in the same camp as Monte Carlo, Excalibur, Aladdin, Circus Circus, Stations, et al. Plus, the fact that cash game jp drops are funding tournament bonuses is simply unacceptable. 4. Action. The new regulars coupled with the old there is not improving their standing, in my opinion. From what I have heard, Caesars is slowly becoming a room with a fairly heavy locals base. Sorry, but if I want to play at Stations, I can go down the street to Sunset. Why drive to the Strip for the same kind of weak tight action? Overall, I will not be returning to CP any time soon unless they seriously change things. Too many other (better) rooms available just next door or accross the street. |

I don't like shorthanded games and they seem to manage the room so that the games are shorthanded. I don't know if it's because they don't have must moves, or what the case might be but it seems like they always have 8 $1-2NL games running, however none of them are full. In fact, most are short 2 or 3 players. After the 5th time I encountered that I decided enough was enough. I did check out the $2-5 game there this past week and that seemed to be going strong.

With regard to their handling of short handed tables, they compounded it by trying to emulate the Wynn and went forward with 9 handed tables instead of 10. Wynn often runs short handed as well, opting to open more tables instead of filling existing (at least in my experiences at 1/3NL).

I played there once and never again because it was so dull and sterile. |

Passive is wrong short-handed even more so than in ring games, as is tight play. yet that's what the regulars engage in. They've set up a structure that allows you to fleece the nits at a predictable, and fast rate. How can that be bad? Isn't that low limit paradise? I'm pretty convinced anyone with a job below 60k a year could go play 1/2 at Caesars and give themselves a raise. |

1-2 w/ 500 max is amazing. LAG it up, show them a few bad hands, act drunk, flop a set, go all-in, get paid off by old nit with with AK or overpair. Rinse, repeat.

Re: Why does everyone hate on Caesars so much...
I played in the 1-2 there last summer, it was a pretty good game. Only played in that room because I was staying in the hotel. It was disapointing that the biggest limit game they had going on a Saturday afternoon was a 3/6 though.
