Recommend a good POP3 mail client
I used Eudora forever but now they stop making it.
What is a good POP3 email client out there for Windows? I just can not stand using Outlook. |

Mozilla Thunderbird [/ QUOTE ] Bingo. For years I thought that POP mail was the stupidest thing in the world. Why would anyone use Outlook over any old webmail option like Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail etc. Then I was convinced to give Thunderbird a try. Wow. I was shocked and immediately hooked. Goodbye webmail, hello Thunderbird. |

If I understand this correctly, Thunderbird takes e-mail from Yahoo! and puts it in it's own e-mail box. It is not a replacement, just an addition with POP, whatever that means. [/ QUOTE ] It means that your emails are downloaded and stored on your machine, rather than on Yahoo's server. [ QUOTE ] What is the benefit to this opposed to normal e-mail? It really doesn't seem needed. [/ QUOTE ] Until recently, it was normal e-mail. Webmail is a relatively new thing. |

Re: Recommend a good POP3 mail client
For kicks, I just downloaded this and read the wiki entry. Should come with a warning that computer idiots should not attempt to use. I understand none of it. I don't think that the installation/registration went correctly.

Gmail is free, however. If anyone knows any other free email services with POP access, I would be interested. I have paid for this in the past because I needed access to my emails while offline. |
