Hard plastic packaging
This is getting increasingly popular for small electronics. Think good headphones, small speakers, a wireless mouse, etc. The plastic is like glued shut and sealed on all sides and often the case is designed to be hung to a display wall.
HOW THE [censored] TO I OPEN THESE THINGS LIKE AN ADULT AND NOT LIKE A SPASTIC SERIAL KILLER APPLYING A KNIFE TO A VICTIM. TIA |

Re: Hard plastic packaging
Scissors > Knife.
I bought something packaged like this last weekend that was perforated on the back to make for easy opening. I wish more electronics companies would follow suit. |

There is a strong possibility that you are a 75 year old woman. This might help: http://www.packageshark.com/ |

Re: Hard plastic packaging
Very annoying packages, plus its awkward to return items in these packages since the package is absolutely destroyed. Perhaps this packaging discourages returns slightly? Unlikely I think.

DaveR is right, I'm sure it's a theft deterrent, but I find myself in my kitchen wrestling with these things with a sharp object in my hand, wondering if I'm going to accidentally stab myself before I get the goddamned thing open. |

I also tend to cut up things like manuals when opening stuff like this. |
