Default Pocket Fives in the $27 Rebuy

Late in the $27 Rebuy satelite into Sunday's WSOP $650. It's sometime after the 1st break. Blinds are 200/400 with some ante, I think it's still 25. There's about 20 or so left, and only 6 get the seat, 7th get's $475.

Stacks

BB (villain) ~5000
MP ~12000
Button (Hero) ~7500

Folded to MP who raises to 1200. Folded to Hero who has 55 and calls, BB calls.

Flop 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

BB waits about 10 seconds and goes all in. MP folds. Hero??? (Pot ~7000)

Reads: Villain seemed to be playing solid poker so far, nothing too far out of line. I had put him on AJs+ or a small pocket pair better then my fives 88+.

Situation in the Tourney, I'm below the average stack. We're pretty far from the bubble, and with my stack compared to others, I definately can't fold to my seat.

Comments appreciated for Preflop as well.

Preflop i shove. Post flop i call. If you are behind, you have alot of outs. You said yourself you can't fold into the money.

Push preflop. As played, I would instacall. You may be need some help, but you need to call at that point. You may be surprised and see a Ax.

I think calling is really bad preflop in this spot with your chip stack. You're inviting a resteal from sb and bb and if you don't hit your set what's your plan of action if mp raiser makes cont. bet. I'd prob shove this pre as mp needs a pretty big hand to call. As played, you have to call this. You may be ahead and if not river A will save you.

I agree, calling with 55 OOP with your stack size is very bad. You are not deep enough to play for set value. This is a push/fold situation. I like a push against most villians.

As played, easy call.

I agree that I probably should have shoved preflop, but I guess I just wanted to see a flop with position here since I was on the button. I figured it was an easy call, my preflop play was the mistake here.
