All his chips confiscated and given to Darfur Relief?

[/ QUOTE ]

Watch out, if this was at a Harrah's property, they would rake 17% before giving the chips to Darfur relief.

But seriously, this is a huge breech of etiquette. At what point do they give more than a warning?

You want him shot? Flogged? Drawn and quartered? All his chips confiscated and given to Darfur Relief?

[ QUOTE ]
i.e., if he was about to call a bet at showdown and he just picked up his oppponents cards and look at them before he called/folded, does that get a different ruling, because it's damn near the same thing.

[/ QUOTE ]

Not

even

close.

[/ QUOTE ]

Surely the guy getting to look at his cards when the player doesn't want to show them is worth some amount of money, right? If the guy is an idiot, it probably isn't worth much, but it has to be worth something. Whatever it is, thats what the guy is stealing. Obviously looking at them when facing action is far worse, but they aren't ENTIRELY different situations. Its just easier to figure out exactly how much he is stealing.

Nah [censored] that, I'm with TxRM here, something needs to be done because this just doesn't fly. At the very least he should be required to get up from the table and go play somewhere else in the room at the very least because keeping him there is only going to cause more problems for the game. He should have been severely scolded by the floor manager, not just by TxRM. Unless you cause a scene he's likely to throw a tantrum again and do something similarly severe.

Yeah this is utterly 100% unacceptable. There really should be some kind of serious penalty system in cardrooms for behavior this bad. In a tournament the player would definitely get a time penalty. In this instance, the player is basically cheating, but a time penalty doesn't really mean much in a cash game. I guess maybe the floor could make the player sit out until his next blind which would make him iss a lot of "free" hands.

Sounds like another case of a player doing something stupid and then the "victimized" player throwing a total hissy fit.

Give someone an inch, and they'll take a mile. The game has rules. If the dealer doesn't control the table properly, then the floor should be called over. I am sure if the dealer had simply said to the player that pulling cards from the muck was not allowable that would have been good enough, but from the sound of things that didn't happen.
