bottled water simply tastes much better, depending on where you are. some places have very good tasting tap water, and i can imagine people from those places not being able to understand the sale of bottled water, but in some places the tap water is really disgusting.

[/ QUOTE ]
dingdingdingdingdingding correct answer.

In some places I prefer tap water, in others bottled.
Whoever believes there's no difference in taste in waters is the real noob and should seriously consider steering clear of soda for a while.

imo nyc water is pretty good. there is a tangible difference in different buildings. i don't know why, but i'd imagine its the last mile pipes for their building making that difference.

I was under the impression that all big American cities had water that was similarly good.

Next time you are in vegas, try some tap water. horrible. I never drank bottle/filtered water until I moved here.

Tap water in NYC all depends on the building you live in. Depending on the age of the building and its pipes, your water might taste brilliant, or it can be brackish.

Most houses and casinos treat their water. you need to find a residence without water treatment.

Plus when I toss it in my recyscle bin it goes to some recycle plant where someone has to sort it and recycle it. So, I'm also providing jobs, for the low, low price of $0.15 a bottle.

[/ QUOTE ]

Every dollar you spend on anything provides jobs. If you didn't spend that money on water, you could spend it on something else. Your argument is sillytown.

I buy bottled water regularly but I only pay about 20 cents per bottle plus I like having a water bottle when I work out. It's much more convenient.

RE: people saying the taste is different:

Penn and Teller had an episode of BS on this question.
They had a waiter at a nice restaurant offer a couple the "water menu". He brought them a bunch of different water selections, which he described by different names, saying they all originated from different countries, etc.
The couple claimed to taste a difference, but all of the water was from the same garden house out back.

If you think one water tastes better than the other, it might be psychological thing. OTOH, that doesn't mean spending the money is a sucker play.

David Suzuki said that bottled water sucks and that tap water is the nuts. That's good enough for me.
