Whoever believes there's no difference in taste in waters is the real noob and should seriously consider steering clear of soda for a while.

imo nyc water is pretty good. there is a tangible difference in different buildings. i don't know why, but i'd imagine its the last mile pipes for their building making that difference.

[/ QUOTE ] Tap water in NYC all depends on the building you live in. Depending on the age of the building and its pipes, your water might taste brilliant, or it can be brackish.

Penn and Teller had an episode of BS on this question. They had a waiter at a nice restaurant offer a couple the "water menu". He brought them a bunch of different water selections, which he described by different names, saying they all originated from different countries, etc. The couple claimed to taste a difference, but all of the water was from the same garden house out back. If you think one water tastes better than the other, it might be psychological thing. OTOH, that doesn't mean spending the money is a sucker play.
