SB bets $2.25, Hero raises to $10, 2 folds

Results: $8.25 Pot

Next hand i was dealt AK:

------------------
HAND #3
------------------

Party Poker, $0.10/$0.25 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 6 Players
LeggoPoker Hand History Converter

BTN: $25.30
Hero (SB): $30.69
BB: $30.25
UTG: $25.20
MP: $23.13
CO: $54.36

Pre-Flop: K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (SB)
3 folds, BTN raises to $1, Hero raises to $3.50, BB folds, BTN insta-raises to $25.30 and is All-In, Hero?

I guess he is mad at me b/c i just sat down and started to 3bet him right away. He likely perceives me as a maniac and lowers his pushing range to 99+ or just plays back at me with AQ or stuff.

Is this *small* 3betting history enough to justify a call?

If his range is 99+, AKs, AKo, and AQs you are about a 7% dog so I can't really see calling here. He might have something that isn't that great but if he has any pocket pair 99+ you are a 12% dog. I just don't see him making this move with nothing.

Oops I almost replied to the other hands. 3bet JJ pf though.

I call this hand, good chance he's on tilt and 4betting semi-light. Certainly not a tight range. Wouldn't be surprised to see Aces as low as ATs, or even a good drawing hand like JTs at this point. That and on up. Without this history I fold but pretty easy call given the situation IMO.

Yes, 3betting JJ is mandatory. I should have mentioned it: i hate it when i start a session and need to do multiple tasks at the same time, get a great run of cards and have no time to act accordingly... But better then minraising by quickly hitting the raise button, anyway

I wonder if it is so easy to put someone with quite TAG like stats on tilt. Your experience is, that this happens quite often? I must admit that i usually play very tight when i am new at a table, so this is a uncommon spot for me.

mb too weak, but I find a fold here.

If villain tilts so easily, I find better spots than gambling my stack prf w/ AK.

If his range is {99+, AKs, AKo, and AQs} you have 43.8% equity but only need 43.1% calling 21.8/28.8 -> 1.32:1 -> 1/(1+1.32) -> .431 so calling or folding is more or less neutral EV. I call in these spots because it is pretty unexploitable.

If he really has only 99+ you only have 40% equity so you fold, but that range is BS.

Antinome, thanks for the computation.
I thought intuitively that i am flipping against this particular range. Throw in 88 and AQo (if not even one or two weird hands more, given the situation) and it's +EV.

However, i called and he showed 44. I didn't expect him to 4bet so light.

edit: spiked an ace

well, that's where we differ obviously :

If I knew villain tilts so easily, I am happy to push AK.

If you like flipping for stacks, call obv hoping to dominate AQ / AJ - I don't, but I trust better spots will come to stack villain.

nice catch though...

Mris
