Default $22 ITM - Facing min-raise from Btn with A9o

Full Tilt Poker
No Limit Holdem Tournament
Blinds: t120/t240
3 players
Converter

Stack sizes:
Button: t2945
SB: t7275
Hero: t3280

Pre-flop: (3 players) Hero is BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
Button raises to t480, SB folds, Hero folds.
Uncalled bets: t240 returned to Button.

Results:
Final pot: t600

The btn is a decent player, but nothing spectacular as you can see by the min-raise. He has min-raised before in this situation, at least 1 time.
The other player is a very good player.

I would push here with AJo, but A9o I didnt feel comfortable with. But when I thought about it, AJo is almost the same as A9o .. so if I would push with AJ why not with A9? Is this a situation of "loving the face cards" ?

Awkward stacksizes, I think I'd just call and play some postflop.

stack sizes are a bit awkward, I would like it if you or villain were shorter for a shove. ITM I usually play pretty aggro, especially in terms of defending blinds vs min raises. I don't like just calling b/c most of the time we'll be c/f flops. Min raise is a pretty weak play and if the villain has a tendency of doing this (and we mucked), I think a shove is correct and will look very strong. Shove pre has a lot of FE and a9o is pretty decent 3 handed, especially vs a min raise.

I would consider that option with a hand that can actually flop something nice/playable, QJs/KJs, perhaps even 65s or A9s. Playing A9o OOP with a 1k pot and ~2.5k stacks is a situation where my brain ehh will malfunction lol.

hum yeah, you're prolly right, shoving seems like some kinda overbet tho.
i wouldnt consider calling at all if it was a real raise, here we get pretty good odds and might be able to scoop some profit by that.

I'd probably push this threehanded against a minraiser who's been minraising before but doesn't seem that bad anyway (not sure how this is possible). I'd say you're breakeven or a slight favorite agains his range and you have FE. Still not completely sure I'd push though, but AT i'd push.
