He might. It's not out of the question, but I think it has to be discounted fairly heavily. He'd be three-betting top set on a 3-straight board with four people who called the flop still to act. Now, this is clearly a +ev move...but one that most people at this club just don't see. They see "OMG, I don't have the nuts and this person just raised the pot against a large field...I can't be ahead." Not always, of course. I'm not saying he never has a set here. But it's much less likely than rational people can believe.

Online, this is an instashove obv.

i'm not good enough to fold here, i don't really have a problem with calling and hoping he shuts down if he's that nitty.

i play live 2/5 here a lot, depending on where the game is i may have something more to say if you can identify the game/villain.

FGators, the players at this game are almost never perceptive enough to make a play here with that much less for all their chips due to OP's image...they're thinking, "I can't wait 'til I have the nuts to bust this chump," not "I can shove 200+ BB's with much less here!"

[/ QUOTE ]

If the hand is so read specific then surely there isn't much value in posting here no offense. If its a straight then just calc how often you need to be ahead and take a geuss as to if they have 4,5 x% of the time needed.

I'm just giving my insight from the particular game in question...my usual response would be the same as you guys, and I'd shove.

I'm not folding it without a sick read on the turn (which i think you're probably capable of, duck)

my primary plan would be to call and get it in on the turn. you might even be able to turn it into a bluff if the board pairs or something, but i wouldnt count on that being too effective.

ok i guess it wasn't that interesting - anyways i folded and he showed me 45o. excellent. i should have realized his pot sized bet on the flop made it less likely he had the stone nuts on 678r but i wasn't thinking clearly.

the reason i ask about turn plan was he said if i had called he would have shut down. but there's no way to know that and it's sort of a ridiculous thought.

i thought his play was pretty bad in the hand with the action (limped pot and 5 people giving tons of action) but i guess he gets the straight he's waiting for, gotta push it pretty hard... or something.

hmmm, I really just don't see myself getting away from this. Being in the SB, he could have anything. With a combo of only 7 cards, I say call and let him shut down on the turn. If he does shove, I still can't see it. I give you kudos for making a huge laydown, even though it was wrong. This is such a huge hand and he just feels so donkish to me here.
