Is everyone forgetting the three road playoff wins before that in that Super Bowl run?

[/ QUOTE ]

You're barking up the wrong tree. Most people on this forum don't consider playoff victories and regular season won/loss records as useful methods of measuring a QB's quality. In fact, we like to mock people who do use those as benchmarks.

The problems with using those measures should be obvious. Career winning percentage is far too dependent on quality of opposition, quality of surrounding offensive talent, and especially the queality of the team's defense. Judging by playoff success runs into all of those prolems, as well as the major hurdle of small sample size.

Vince Young as a top 10 QB.....

*sigh*.

Clearly, without him, Albert Haynesworth would not be having a DPOY season.

[/ QUOTE ]

How come whenever you debate VY you always must make sarcastic comments instead of actually debating? Imo it only makes you look foolish and makes it seem(regardless of whether its true or not) that you don't have enough of an argument to stand on its own so you resort to sarcasm.

[/ QUOTE ]

Don't really want to hijack this thread but...
V.Young: 3TD 8INT -25.8%DVOA(39th in the NFL) but he does have a 62% Comp% so there's that. No weapons and all (a good O-line though), I know but still.

You misunderstood me; I'm perfectly willing to give Ben a free pass for last year. You're the one who wants to ignore context by making statements like "no excuse for going 2-6" as if a QB's record in 1/2 a season is the sole indicator of his talent, but then change your tune when the same standards are assigned to your guy.

Career .500 quarterback.

See: VY has a 6-2 Record right now. Carson Palmer has a 2-6 record right now.

You can either assume VY > Carson Palmer, or you can assume that supporting cast and luck have a huge effect on winz.

Yeah...

Do you really think the difference between the Bengals and the Steelers is Ben Roethlisberger vs Carson Palmer or a terrible defense vs. an excellent one?

Hold on there, I thought we weren't making excuses for people who were 2-6 on talented teams.

Opposition: Steelers have been better therefore they have played harder schedules the following years.
Advantage: Bengals.

Offense: Leading receiver in the league, damn good #2. Rudy and Willie have similar YPC averages. Lines are equal IMO. Ben scrambles way more than Palmer does cause that's his style and his line's fault.
Advantage: Bengals

Defense: When the Bengals don't get turnovers....
Advantage: Steelers

BTW if you are going to use 8 starts as a reasonable predictive model, David Garrard > Derek Anderson

I was trying to figure out why OP completely ignored this point as if nobody would mention, and then nobody actually mentioned it.
