What if you play perfectly all of the time like Phil Hellmuth?? [/ QUOTE ] Shouldn't we start writing his name "Phil Hellmouth", like "fine vermouth", 'cause that's how he pronounces it ? |

Re: Insane HH from Niagara 10k involving THE Vanessa Rousso (and Shani
Pre-flop is horrible and if you scared to play this hand when you've flopped almost as good as you can possibly expect then using 'implied odds' as a justification is stupid.
If you are going to play the hand then i think you have to call here because i think trips are also a possible holding. |

Re: Insane HH from Niagara 10k involving THE Vanessa Rousso (and Shani
[ QUOTE ]
cdbr folds. turn is an offsuit deuce or something, and vanessa rousso check calls 7k leaving 9k behind. the river is a offuist 9 (final board 86529), and vanessa checks. shaniac instashoves for 9k and vanessa says "looks like you missed your flushdraw" and calls. shaniac shows 74 for 9-high straight (same hand as cdbr pre) and vanessa shows 85o for two pair. [ QUOTE ]
you actually lose more chips on the play. the end. [/ QUOTE ] But sklansky-wise, you don't lose chips. You make teh extra investment cos its +EV - ie you're expecting to win back more than you invest. You might spend more chips, but your expectation is to win back more. Anyway, I'll exit this thread quietly now & wish I'd just posted what Funki did. |

Re: Insane HH from Niagara 10k involving THE Vanessa Rousso (and Shani
I actually dont hate the raise utg with 74 suited, tournaments being so top heavy u do need to play hands and accumulate chips. Also most online players are really bad live and get really nervous when playing face to face so their hands get turned face up alot of the time, therefore a good live player like negreanu for instance would definitely be ev plus, raising 74 suited utg on the majority of tables this deep.

Everyone--
Curtains is completely right here. If you don't agree with him--let me be blunt here--you do not have even a foggy theoretical understanding of poker. You know no more about poker than a guy who can't checkmate with two rooks against a naked king knows about chess. Of course some of the people disagreeing with Curtains are misunderstanding him or going out of their ways to argue against a related claim. And whether or not many players would in practice be worse off than -150 chips is another matter. But Curtains certainly isn't twisting anybody's words. --Nate |

aejones--
He said that if you raise to 150 preflop, then the expectation of that raise can't be worse than -150 if you play perfect thereafter. --Nate |
