Well considering the Mets are facing an arch-nemesis tonight (a Starting Pitcher making his 1st start in the Big Leagues) we might have to wait until tomorrow to beat the fish.

Next 9 against the Marlins, Pirates and Nats. Time to get a nice string of wins.

Can someone explain to me why Willie was playing the infield back when they were down 3 runs in the 7th? That can't be the correct play in that situation can it?

BobO,

Awesome drinking game.

whitebread,

Don't forget, we are sending out our secret weapon, Brian Lawrence.

In other news, Marlon Anderson was placed on the bereavement list. There goes Willie's go-to pinch hitter.

Way to make a completely asinine comment Cortz. Care to explain why that was the right decision? I never said that he was dead wrong. I just said that I didn't think that was the best play in that situation. That's just my opinion, nothing more. I'd actually love to learn why that is the correct play. If it was the correct play, then chances are that someone on this board knows the answer, which is why I asked the question to begin with.

Let's be honest here too. I like Willie, his personality and managerial style seems to be a good fit in New York and with this particular Mets team. We could do a lot worse. For the most part, I actually think he manages the bullpen well too. But some of his in game decisions when it comes to the offense and occasionally the defense make me question whether or not that was the correct play...

Heh. His Grandmother actually died the other day. I think he might have been going on the bereavement list regardless after the game yesterday afternoon.

also, just out of curiosity, but why were the Mets conceding a run down three in the seventh…strange…and, the thing is, the Mets ended up losing by one…so, yeah…i’m just saying…

Ah, ok, I had no idea obviously. Not that I doubted it was something legit...timing was just funny.
