Default My micros suggestion

As Wookie has said, cashing completely out would be a mistake, unless you're using this opportunity to make a change in your life. If you want to be safe, at least leave $100-300 in, so that you can work on your poker skills. Hell, if you're really scared, leave $50 in and work it up playing .05/.10.

With Party closing its doors to the US, you DO want to get your money out of there. The safest sites are going to be the "poker-only" sites, namely Full Tilt and Stars. FT in specific apparently plans to remain open to the US. (Stars has not made a final decision.) UB has also said they're not going anywhere.

Work on your skills. Keep playing. There are soooo many people at 2+2, there are surely enough where you live to get home games together. Either poker is fun or it isn't. It never was a get-rich-quick scheme, so little has changed in that regard.

I'm undecided over exactly what I want to do right now (probably pull out a bit more for my live roll), but I don't think I want to close the door on online poker until/unless it closes its door on me.

Either way, rest assured that while a battle has been won, the war is far from over. The genie is out of the bottle, and there is too much potential revenue out there for a cash-hungry government to simply turn its back.

Well said Bro'. I'll be around for awhile. I feel bad b/c I don't post as much now as I did when I first started (my employer blocks 2+2 at work, bummer...but my productivity is skyrocketing!) but I pledge to keep playing and keep posting.

I've got 17 years until I retire and I have that long to build my roll and go pro!

I'm sorry to see the likes of Eeegah and Beni go but I understand. A couple of months ago I wasn't sure If I'd ever play a hand again.

I will probably be at stars and FT if they stick around...I hope to see you guys there and here!

I'm not panicking yet but I'm not sure going from 300-400 hands an hour down to 35ish will be "fun". I play a few live games a year and the only reason its fun is because I'm playing against friends. Its hard to imagine a 5k-10k hand of live play on a bad streak... that could be months.

To compare that to another hobby: if golf suddenly took 32 hours to complete one round and I went from breaking 80 once every 8-10 rounds to all the sudden breaking 80 once or twice a year golf would not be much fun any more.

My short term plan is not to do much anything different until more is known. If this ends up being the end of online poker, for me, I will at least try some B&M.

B&M play is a blast. Very different from home games vs. friends. True that there are far fewer hands than multi-tabling but the interations, the characters, the lack of a HUD really do make it enjoyable!

There will be no shame in dropping levels because the games are going to be harder. I'll have to look at the games to figure out what level I want to play at, but I'm willing to drop back down to .50/1 and work my way back up again.

Or don't... Now might be a good time to search for other hobbies.

Casino/cardroom poker isn't going anywhere, either... But if you live out where you can't find these things, home games are a good way to keep playing. It's also a way to build up friendships with people.

I said in another post, and I'll say it again in this one. I think cashing out ALL of your money is foolish, because you might not be able to put it back in. Execpt for Party, Pacific, and any other site that intends on suspending US operations.

I'm currently playing on a PokerRoom skin, and play this weekend was awsome. I'm currently recovering from a 100BB downswing at $1/2, but I was able to bounce back nicely and recover about half of it with a 100BB upswing at $.5/1.

I'm NOT quitting. Personally, I think it's foolish for people to just throw their hands in the air and quit. I feel that as a responsible adult, I have the right to chose whether or not to play poker online, and until someone makes it specifically against the law, I don't have any intention of stopping. Quitting now is playing into exactly what Congress wants. They want you to be confused, they want you to be frustrated, and they want you to quit playing so that they can win their moral victory.

It occurred to me earlier today that I think I know what the next step is going to be. The Poker Player Alliance is currently lobbying to have poker "carved" out from other forms of online gambling. I believe this is going to happen. Then I believe, all of the sudden, we're going to get a batch of online poker rooms that are hosted by servers in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. That way the government can regulate and tax those servers. Basically, the government is going to say, "You can't play poker on the illegal overseas servers, but you can play poker on our regulated and taxed servers." You think the rake is high now? What til that happens. Do you think it's right for our government to do this? If you quit now, and pull all your money out of other sites, this is exactly what you're going to allow to happen.

Ok, I'm rambling, so I'm going to get off my soap box. I just wanted to get across to who ever is willing to read this post, that it may be a little early to just quit.

Holla,

Tex

It's interesting to note that with some sites remaining open and really its up to Neteller to determine whether they are going to continue to provide transfer services, no one may need to go.

That being said I am not sure the games will get harder. With the closing of Party to US that will make some major changes and it depends on the fish to shark ratio.

We are going to lose a lot of fish but we may loose the same proportion of sharks as well so things may not change much at all.

It's hard to say yet.

I'm hurrying to finish off my Party bonus. Beyond that I don't know.

I'm not quitting poker. I think there will be sites available to us. I'm thinking the legislation will get modified down the line. I'm considering moving into NL, since that's where the majority of the bad players who do make it online will want to play. I'm also going to be spending some time at local bars playing, too, I think.

I dunno... still kinda waiting and seeing.
