it won't be pointless

it depends what store

i wouldn't camp out at gamestop, since they did pre-orders

but best buy, walmart and others won't do pre-orders

anyone know if compusa/circuit city will be doing pre-orders or not?

In my area, Compusa and CC both were 1st come 1st served, but both also had less units than BB. Also Target, Walmart, ShopCo and even Costco had 360's on launch day. The big issue is going to be quanity. Most stores will have very few available.

For the Ps2 and 360 launch I managed to get my unit at BB. For the PS2 I went everywhere in Reno and struck out, and still managed to get one at BB.

Uhh, for those of you with lots of money...

May I suggest buying yours, then standing outside with $950 cash and offering to buy other people's.

If you get 5 more, that's at least another $500 in profit.

I called just about all ToysRus stores within ~50 miles of Washington, DC and lines started forming at 2pm today. While there may still be open spots, I don't want to wait 18+ hours for PS3 to resell. ($500 profit=$25/hour) Too much exposure on the net about it on sites like Fatwallet.

People are selling preorders for these things at 1500 bucks, just check out ebay right now.

At this point, I have 3 friends that are going to camp out with me at best buy for 24 hours, since I think thats what it will take (I was at toys r us this morning at 5am , and people were there since noon yesterday for the ps3). I got a wii preorder and 4 elmos though. They only had 7 PS3's.

Anyhow, I'm trying to get 7 total friends to go with me. If I can get 900 per unit profit, thats 8*900=7200 bucks minus ebay fees and what not.

I'll probably give 200 to each person for their troubles, maybe 300, so that would be nice.

i'm debating selling some after the launch date or just selling all early if can get around 2k
