Default Typical Area of Confusion - suited cards in the SB

Hello all, this is my first post. Getting back into playing, this time I just want to learn. So here is a hand I face often that never seems to work out. Chasing a flush from EP. Should I be out of this hand altogether? What is your strategy with this type of hand...how would you play it differently?

Pre-Flop: Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (SB)
UTG calls, UTG+1 folds, MP1 calls, 2 folds, BTN calls, Hero calls, BB checks

Flop: (5 SB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 Players)
Hero bets, BB calls, UTG calls, MP1 calls, BTN calls

Turn: (5 BB) A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (5 Players)
Hero checks, BB bets, 3 folds, Hero calls

River: (7 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players)
Hero checks, BB bets, Hero folds

Results: 7 BB Pot (0.25 BB Rake)
BB mucked and WON 6.75 BB (+4.75 BB NET)

This is variance.

Fix your title, there are no connectors here.

Sorry, I had two in mind and chose the non-suited one, typical for a first timer huh?

From EP I wouldn't have bet out on the flop. You're still drawing and not to the nuts. Otherwise I thought it played fine.

Flush over flush is rare.
The flop is ragged enough that there is no reason to think anyone is going to bet.
The last thing you want is for this to get checked through.
With 5 players seeing the flop every bet that goes in makes you money.

likely variance or selective memory regarding not making flushes. it is surprisingly easy to remember all the times that we miss our flushes or get AA busted and forget when they win or hold up.

dont be scared of running into a bigger flush draw here when you have QxSooted. thats mubsy.
