Default The Late Phil Hellmuth

Why does Hellmuth deliberately show up late at major tournaments?
Is this cavalier attitude counter-productive?
Does he miss out on potential monster hands? Is he squandering opportunities?
What's the rationale behind this latecomer stratagem?
Especially given Hellmouth's mediocre performance at this year's main event.
Surely every hour is precious?

The first levels are bad for Phil. He doesn't want to get his money in without the dead nuts. If he played with low blinds, he'd get bluffed off everything, and have a horrible image by the time the blinds get bigger.
