Default NL25- AKo misses in 3 bet pot

villian running 56/15/1.5 over 100 hands. I get in trouble with these stack sizes often and am lost after the flop when i miss. feel compelled to call after his flop raise cause of his stack size. checking behind feels so weak, but i know im leaking money in these situations

You need to call 8.2 to win 24.05, giving you ~3:1. Therefore You need ~25% equity for this call to break even. You have 15% equity against {77+, AQ, KQ, QJ}. Granted, this is a bluff some of the time, but I think a fold is still right. Rest of the hand was well played.

It's impossible to tell whether you should call or fold. You need to have a "feel" for the opponent as the situation happens. Is he full of sh*t, is he fed up with you, do you guys have a history together? Things like that. Also, there's absolutely no shame to check flop behind, if you don't know what to do if he raises your cbet.

Honestly I think the preflop line is bad for this exact reason. Either raise more so you are comitted to ANY flop, or just call and try to trap him since he is so aggressive.

I find that you can get away with smaller c-bets against the shorties. As played you prob got 6 outs wont discount becuase of your BDFD. Need 3.3 -1 and pot is laying about 3-1 so give him air sometimes and call. But I might try c-bet 3.5 and fold to shove here.

Somewhat along a different line, I've been trying to size my 3 bets appropriate to the shortstack I want to play against. I reraise enough that I think the blinds wont call while trying to give the right pot size once the shorty calls. I'd 3 bet it preflop to only 2.50 and bet 3.25 on the flop.

Not sure if its a move that's over my head or just moronic, but so far it's been suiting me well.
