Newcastle was a good answer for the criteria; also Sierra Nevada would work. If you like blueberry, I suggest Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat. Pure awesomeness IMO, though many people hate it. However, you can definitely drink a ton of it and not feel full.

The best answer is buy a pick 6 at your liquor store and see what you like.

My Roommate LOVES this stuff, getting it as much as possible (only 2 local stores have it, and they run out quick).

grolsch light is where it's at. It's good for a light beer and it wont be as filling.

The thing is, you can't just jump right into any good beer if you aren't used to it. You'd probably find an IPA disgusting, for example, just because the bitterness would seem so different than what you are used to.

Here is how I suggest you make your migration:

1. Kirin (comes in a can)
2. Sam Adams (only decent lager I know of)
3. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale/Redhook ESB (both good beers available nation-wide)
4. Golden ales (preferably belgian -- will probably remind you a little of the lagers you used to drink, but has a mroe distinctive flavor)
5. Spaten Optimator (a bit heavy, but a very smooth and drinkable beer, also available nationwide)
6. Stouts and other heavy beers
7. IPAs and other hoppy beers

You might try La Fin du Monde or Maudite (both made by Unibrou brewery in Montreal) if you get your hands on them. Great beers that you don't necessarily need to be eased into.

also, b/c they lack bitterness, they are often easier for people to like than other beers
