i was on holiday earlier this year in australia and while i was there i played at 1/2 nlhe they charged 5 an hour table charge plus up to 8 rake max per pot. now that is a tuff game to beat. way worse than online. also i was going to enter a tourny till i found out the "juice" was [censored] 20%. unreal. australia has the most passive loose games ever and you can still make money there but not as easily as you should. The thing with poker is that is just not exact science. For example, how do you calculate your edge against the rest of the players at your level? It will probably be an estimate. In blackjack, you know the house has 0.5% on you and you can calculate your edge over it if you come up with a strong strategy. How do you calculate your edge in poker?

In order to make decent money you need to play the midstakes where in today´s online environment is full of strong players who are probably using the same strategy that you are (unless you are the next Phil Ivey or Stu Ungar and have your own original way of playing)which transaltes into have 0% edge over the rest and only the house makes money with its rake (even with rakeback).
