The 1998-99 season also brought forth a re-seeding of conference playoff matchups after the first round, as well as a third division in each conference.

Gotcha, thanks.

Is this a pretty accepted rule or do people hate it?

it creates problems when the 3rd seed is a division winner but is thought to be significantly weaker than 4th or 5th place. in 2003 in the second round, second seeded new jersey played the third seeded tampa bay lightning where first seed ottawa drew the fourth seed philadelphia flyers in the 2nd round - tampa had 93 points in a weak division, philadelphia 107 (but also in a fairly weak division).

Penguins defense is so horrible. I was hoping that it wouldn't be much of a factor like it wasn't during the regular season, but it's clear that the playoffs are a whole new ballpark.

Whitney's good, and will get better. Gonchar's good on the PP. But the rest of the bunch is useless.

Can't wait to hear Murray lisp after the game about how it needs to be a penalty considering that was the same type shoulder to the head hit Neil put on Drury a few months back. Maybe he should tell his guys to buckle their chin straps tighter like he did to Drury.

against some teams it might not have been, but the senators are damn good.

the real concern for the penguins has to be the scoring though - giving up 3-4 goals a game was inevitable, but they can't seem to get anything going against the senators aside from the 3rd period yesterday.

I think most people thought Anahiem might not be able to adapt to the Wild's shut-down type of strategy, trap and all... but Anahiem is really too good. They can win low scoring games just as much as they can blow out a team with 5 or 6 goals.

Period 3, Dallas over Vancouver 1-0... Canucks have not scored a goal since the 4OT game winner in the first game of the series.

I'm beginning to get frustrated. The Canucks shouldn't be losing to the Stars if you ask me (obv), Luongo's doing more than is asked of him, but nobody can put the puck in the net. All they have to do is score a pair or trio of goals per game, and the series would be a cakewalk.
