i highly doubt they can get your transcript. i have a hard enough time getting my own [censored] transcript from my school.

What did you lie about? This is a terrible move. Either they find out before you are hired or they find out after you have been hired. Both are bad.

umm i said my GPA is about .5 above what it really is.. its low because i was an engineering student for 2 terms and umm that really didn't work out.. ive had good business grades since then (finance internship) but eh...

you should have told them its XXX but its XXX(higher) within your major or something

NLSoldier is correct in that's what you should have said. If they find out and question it, just say that's what you meant. Not sure if that will work or not, but it's your only shot.

A friend of mine worked for one background check places, and almost exclusively dealt with education checks. From what I gathered from him they were only concerned with completeness of your degree/program from the stated institution. He never said anything about checking GPA's or anything like that, but I suppose it's possible.

Probably depends on what kind of job it is, the prices for information seemed to escalate depending on how far up your ass they want to look. Don't know if I'd get that worried about it, seems like a thing you might be able to weasel your way out of if you had to. Then again, I'm not an employer, so maybe not...

If they told you that they're doing a background check, then I'd worry a little. They will likely have cause to terminate you if they find out that you lied in the interview at a later date, so you'd better become really valuable really fast - if you get it.
