the people stolen from the tailie camp were all on the list, and Ben taunted John about not being up to snuff when he was in the hatch.

I also think the Locke, desmond similarity is solid. Was Ecko acting like it happened to him too? I can't remember.

Wasn't this because he 'saw' Charlie drowning there (rushing in to save Claire) so he had to stop it before it happened. By scaring away the birds, Claire couldn't fall in the ocean and thus Charlie couldn't drown trying to save her.

couldn't this be as simple as mikhael noticing the tension between locke and sayid and using rumors to fuel the fire? he singled locke out when he was talking about the list. he thanked locke when he was killed.

I thought Desmond told Claire Charlie died trying to get one of the birds for her among the rocks.
