Default Question on Ron Paul

Where does the hate towards Paul come from?

In every interview i've watched so far Paul is eloquent, clear, convincing, enthusiastic, and skillful, wtf is wrong with people like Sean Hannity who bring up absurdities while Paul lays out the facts?

If Hannity and people like him don't want Paul in the '08 who do they want ... Giuliani??? AYFKM???

Ron Paul is against the war, ergo these people hate him.

That is exactly what makes them so mad. Because he is EXPOSING them, and he is BEING CALM AND REASONABLE about it.

It's much easier for hacks like Hannity when they can just demonize the democrats as looney liberal peace-niks. It makes them very uncomfortable when faced with a man who is the most conservative man in the house *and* correctly opposed the war from the start. They have backed this president for so long that admitting they were wrong all along would be a gigantic hit to their egos.

Please lord let Ron Paul somehow get elected. Who among the other idiots running would even understand the unintended consequences that so much government action causes?

Ron Paul's problem is that he's telling people the truth and it's an unpleasant truth that a lot of people don't want to admit to. For example, nobody wants to hear that about 4000 American servicemen and women died for no good reason. In fact, I've heard that used as an argument before: "How can you say that the war shouldn't have happened??! Those men would have died for nothing!!"

Well, yes, I'm afraid they did. People not wanting it to be true doesn't make it false. Sadly this level of logic is beyond many people - especially when they don't want to accept it.

Sorry, I'm being a bit cynical tonight.

I think many Americans, even the died-in-the-wool Bush-ites are realizing how bad this war is and want it over so maybe Paul can get some traction by pointing out that he was against it from the start...

No, the American people don't like people who are smarter than them and able to realize things they don't. There's a reason the Bush "I'm so dumb!" act works.

Oil is a good reason. It's also the most important reason why we need to stay the course.
