you fold this preflop

[/ QUOTE ]

ATo is not playable profitably postflop as it needs so much help on the flop to be properly played (either a flop of ATx or some sort of straighting) - it's a classic win a little/lose a lot hand, like KJo. Therefore it's only playable as a steal hand, usually raising from the button or CO, and in SB or BB if only the blinds are in.

That includes even if you're playing superlag.

ok i'll stick this one too

Nooooooooooo! You are setting yourself up for a ton of reverse implied odds. NLHE isn't about pot odds. It's about implied odds. Play ATo in EP, especially OOP in a raised pot, is just BEGGING to either win a little or lose a lot. The losses, when you lose, are just too big. Fold preflop because of the reverse implied odds. Don't be fooled by "pot odds" when you still have a lot of chips in your stack that will play after the flop.

I agree. Folding ATo in EP is the best play. Then folding to the raise is the best play.

Fold preflop... either initially or after the raise behind.
Flop, you need to call the extra $2.

ATo, KQo, AJo are all unplayable in EP except in special circumstances/table dynamics- and under those circumstances you raise them.

ATs,AJs,KQs are more interesting, but default is to fold those in EP unless I'm at a really passive table where I can limp without fear of a raise behind (table would have to be something like 30/2 average) or a really tight one when I'd openraise to LAG it up.

This was one of the hard adjustments for me going from Limit to NL. Pretty suited broadway hands like KJs,AJs,KQs,ATs have lots more value when the reverse implied odds are limited like in limit, the price for a draw is likely to be good, and the penalty for domination at showdown is just a couple bets and not a third of your stack or worse...

Fold preflop.

After accidentally overlimping with ATo, fold when there is a raise behind you.

After you accidentally limp/call out of position in a multi-way raised pot with an easily dominated ace that doesn't even have the mystic "suited" powers of ATs, you should CRAI the shorty (who has only 1 pot sized bet behind) and hope he has TT, JJ, or KK.
