edit: you won't be on trial and it's not going to be like a movie. It is decidely unlikely that you will be accused of propositioning the defendant for sex. You can say whatever the hell you want about your own drug history, no one will care unless it implies you were high at the time.

Although I haven't actually discussed this (or anything) with the prosecutor, I have watched enough Law and Order to guess that the defense attorney might suggest I was not actually robbed but rather met up with the defendent to procure drugs and/or sex.

While I don't pay for sex, I do use drugs. Marijuana habitually and I've done cocaine.

Obviously I will inform the DA of this before I testify and let him make the call as to whether or not I actually should take the stand.

It is such an absurd argument (that I was purchasing drugs from these people) for a rational person to accept. However, I'm not sold that most jurors are rational people. The defense might get them to believe that I was a reckless, desperate drug user (cause everyone knows how addictive marijuana is)who would do anything for a score.

They should not be allowed to ask you about drug use in general, but it is fair game for them to ask you about drugs if they have any good faith basis to believe you were buying drugs from the people involved in the case.
