Re: Soccer Player Ethnicities
how the [censored] are crespo and zidane brown? Both are pretty damn white if you ask me. Deco is more brown if you ask me, but he's still a white boy.
Most spanish people are white. Its not until they got to latin/south america and mixed with natives that they became brown. I have met more than a few latino's that are staight white. |

[ QUOTE ] Anyways, they're both pretty clearly white, as is Zidane (Algerian/Berber/French, whatever, he looks white) The others are all black. [/ QUOTE ] Crespo is not black. [/ QUOTE ] Both=Crespo/Deco, as per previous discussion. Also, this is a pretty terrible way to settle this bet, just make a poll for each person so misunderstandings like this are averted. |

[/ QUOTE ] I think we have different definitions of brown. I'm familiar with the racial makeup of Spaniards. Argentina is a country with a lot of immigration. I don't know about his parents or whatever and wikipedia didn't say anything personal. I would guess he's part Spanish and part native of some sort. Zidane was born in France but his parents are from Algeria. Algerians I guess are considered white but could be brown as well IMO. Really the problem is that the term brown is quite ambiguous. I've heard it used to refer to hispanics, mixed black and white, all variety of polynesian people, and Indians both from India and Native Americans. Some seem to use it for only one or two of those groups, others for pretty much anybody that is neither white nor black nor Asian exclusively. |

I agree, brown is a very ambiguous term.

[/ QUOTE ] there's also a lot of italian immigrants in Argentina. Judging purely on Crespo's looks, there doesn't seem to be much native blood in him. From his looks and last name, to me, he looks very italian and his family has probably stayed like for the most part(or have had fairly pure spainard integration into the family), especially since a lot of italian immigrants are only a couple of generations old in the new world |

You and salty appear to be right. |
