People who say "Abercrombie/Hollister/American Eagle shirt" in these threads are bigger douches and/or no coochie getting hermits.

[/ QUOTE ]

hahaha, you wear abercrombie/hollister/american eagle.

[/ QUOTE ]

I do because being "hood" went out in the 90's. It's all about the hoes baby.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah really, you people do realize that girls usually like these clothes right? Even though I don't wear those brands much, I can totally see why people do. Especially the high school and college crowd. If your sole purpose for not wearing something is because you aren't sure if guys are gonna approve, take a second and consider how [censored] retarded that is.

[/ QUOTE ]

True, but A&F and it's ilk are driven by this very concept. This is why there's such a backlash from so many people. Unless you're in a frat, leave that [censored] behind. You can literally buy the same (IMO, ugly) apparel from JC Penny's or any other 'low rent' store. People shop at A&F and Hollister for the logo.

If it's all about the ho's, carve your own style. That's what females appreciate.

[/ QUOTE ]

Sorry, "Thug Bubbles" I think we want to attract two opposite types of chicks.

I don't buy any type of clothing because of the logo, I buy it cause it is what is in style. Like 8 to 10 years ago I was wearing Ecko and before that I was wearing Tommy and Nautica. It all boils down to dressing to get the best possible snatch you can get.

[/ QUOTE ]

rofl.
ive always liked you sicc, but if ecko and tommy and now AF and AE and hollister gets you "the best possible snatch", me thinks your snatch selection sucks horse balls.

[/ QUOTE ]

What I mean is that dressing trendy makes most girls take you more serious.

What is it you can wear that is any better? (Naming other brands won't work because that is the same side of the arguement.)

Plus you have to remember that I have been in Kentucky for most of my poon-getable years and we are at least 3-5 years behind any fashions.

PS: My snatch selection is awesome because it involves walking upright and having a vagina.

I have a Bob Marley poster.

[/ QUOTE ]
Having a Marley poster in college is pretty cliche', at least in the States. But mostly my point is that nowadays it's been so co-opted that a Che shirt says about as much about your politics as a Marley poster does.

'Has accomplished' is past tense.

[/ QUOTE ]

no, it's present perfect. all of the references to che did imply that he thought he was still alive.

if someone is dead you generally say "he wasn't an angel" not "he isn't an angel" unless you're arguing about the afterlife.

[/ QUOTE ]

Has Che died?
Yes, Che has died.
Am I implying that I think he is still alive when I say he has died?

Has Che accomplished some things?
Yes, Che has accomplished some things. This doesn't imply that he is still around. He doesn't need to be alive for it to be true that he has done something in the past.

If somebody says: Chris Farley has performed on SNL before. Are you going to say/think 'OMG you know he is dead right'?
You do know present perfect is used to make claims about what did or did not happen in the past right?

Wilt Chamberlain has scored 100 points in a game.

I just can't ignore people jumping all over that dude acting like he doesn't know Che is dead.
I wish I could. If you are going to be grammar nits, at least be correct.

What makes you think that is the goal of people wearing this stuff? If someone has a pirate tattoo, do you think it's supposed to be a conversation starter to discuss the finer points of maritime pillaging?

[/ QUOTE ]

I think a better analogy to che shirts would be a tribal armband tat.

Though obviously making the commitment to get a tat just because everyone else is doing it makes you a far bigger d-bag than just wearing a shirt.

The present perfect is a tense that indicates events or situations that have happened in the recent past and have a corresponding effect on the present. You use the present perfect to talk about people who are still alive.

For example;

John Grisham has written many books, (unfortunately.) This implies not only that he has written many books, but that he can still write more books if he wants.

Hemmingway wrote many books. This implies that Hemmingway wrote many books in the past but he no longer has the possibility of writing more as he is dead. This tense is known as the past simple and is used for people who are in fact dead, such as, I don't know, some random South American revolutionary.

If you still don't believe me just check out the definition of the present perfect.

You may regret writing this. By the way, I've been teaching English as a second language for six years now.

Sorry for the thread hijack.
