Default tv for my house

alright i made a post about this already... some roomies wanted to throw me some money if i bought a sick tv ... i decided, with the guidence of this forum that i should just buy it keep it and tell them to buy other things like a dvr (also idea of a hotub is being thrown around)

ANYWAY

tv... i don't know [censored] about electronics... what should i be lookign for...

i want a big ass screen (between 40 and 60 inches) i know that's a gigantic range, but i really haven't decided how big i want it/how much i should be spending

figure its gotta be an LCD (i mean flat screen and basically no width I think that's the correct terminology)

i'm gonna be getting digital cable, watching movies, and playing xbox 360

i want it to have those different light colors that come in the backround... ambient lighting? i dunno whatever it is

i want it to be easily hooked up with my computer through s-vide (or maybe some other way?)

reccomendations? suggestions? guidance?

help me out guys, ite thanks

If you're going to be sitting close to the TV, a 60" would look worse that a 37". Think of sitting in the front row of a movie theatre.

Also, glad to see you grew up a bit in regards to making your roomies pay for the TV.

Another big factor in addition to viewing distance is whether or not you are going to be watching a lot of standard definition telivision. If so, you definitely would prefer something a little smaller. I doubt your room is large enough to want anything over 50 inches. Heres a good link with some tips.
