Default Shall I go pro?

I will finish my phD in chemistry in Feb 07 and I have already applied for a post doc position. Now I am not sure what to do - poker makes me much more then the 2500$/month I would earn there (even if I do it only in my free time 2-3 hours a day like now - see below). When I start the postdoc in Japan I would have virually no time for poker...

On the other hand it will be difficult to find a good job later when the company realizes a longer break in my CV.

Work. Play in spare time. If you continue doing very well over a very large sample size, consider it.

Thanks! Seems pretty obvious now.
What you recommend as a large enough sample size?

Sura: 100k minimum. Also, if you do decide to go pro, have your rent/utilities payments ready and set aside in the bank for 3-4 months so that you won't worry if you break even or even lose over a month.

Also, note that on one of the levels you have the most hands at, 5/10, your bb/100 is the lowest. You also have insanely high winrates for the higher games and will almost surely not be able to win as much money in the next 50k hands as you have in the current 30k hands.

Good luck to you.

Good point Oxy about the hands played vs bb/100 ratio.
