i'll echo some of the thoughts others have mentioned that something about the party position doesn't ring true. despite the "extensive legal input" (or, some words to that effect), there is simply no compelling legal reason why party would have to make the announcement they did. consequently, i think it's safe to assume there is some ulterior motives present. specifically, maybe party believes the threat will translate into some action or inaction regarding the bill, or, maybe (some way or another) someone or some entity stands to make a large sum of money (who's buying the puts? etc.)......

First we (Canada) had the Empire loylists, then blacks fleeing slavery, then Vietnam draft dodgers. Now, poker refugees!

You folks are all welcome here (assuming you aren't evangelicals).

Harrah's is up 14% (9.52/share). I'd guess this is more due to the $81.00/share offer from a private offer. The shares are currently listed at $75.95.

surely the fact that party is a publicly traded company registered in england and subject to their laws is going to prevent them from running off with anyone's money?

i am sure they will be able to cut the number of customer service people as soon as they stop workign with US players, and lots of staffers will find the backside of the door pretty fast.

in other words, it is the little guys who will lose and the upper management types are buying stock on the downswing and will do just fine.
