Re: Sunday Million hand. Is this a complete spew?
[ QUOTE ]
Isn't this Fancy Play Syndrome? [/ QUOTE ] thats exactly what it is - its a play that might work in a live game against someone you have played with every Tuesday night for the last 2 years, but in a donkfest MTT online i find its the simple plays that lead to the best results. if your villan has any part of this hand he will call - he will put you on a hand that fits your betting (AK) so he can get his chips in and congratulate himself on his brilliant read. its so easy to milk chips of donks calling with middle pair and strange draws its bordering on bizzare to play anything other than ABC poker in these spots |

Re: Sunday Million hand. Is this a complete spew?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Its not impossible for the hero to have checked AQ or a set on this rainbow board (most people bet a set on a 2 broadway board but not everyone). Now that a 9 or T on the river present scare cards it is possible that the hero who holds AQ/set would want to put a big bet in to protect his hand. [/ QUOTE ] Checking AQ or a set is good to use vs a lot of opponents because they will never believe you when you wake up and bet 10k on turn and shove river for value. [ QUOTE ] There is no reason to think that the BB has a big hand here. It is possible that he is completely bluffing after your flop check and it is possible that he has a hand like QT/KQ/AJ/KJ that he will not want to play for his tournament life. [/ QUOTE ] Sure if he is gonna fold out almost all his 1 pair hands - even those with a redraw like QT, then this is a good semibluff. In that case he's only calling with QJ, sets and straights. In my experience this is not going to be the case and you will get called down lightly. [/ QUOTE ] I shouldn't have included QT in there. With QT he is definitely playing for his stack on that board once we check the flop |

this is a nice time to float and an alright price. So call you have chips to play the river and pos with.

Re: Sunday Million hand. Is this a complete spew?
I could see this being good but you need villain to be folding everything apart from a Q to make this profitable which means that you need a read that he cannot read action and/or slowplays monsters (because then he'll think you do) and/or will not want to put his tournament life on the line and will 'look for a better spot'.
This sort of thing was a lot more effective a year ago. |

Re: Sunday Million hand. Is this a complete spew?
tbh i thought you had a hand liek QT and KT and didnt want to be called...if you had T9 or QJ you probably wouldnt played it that hard..

Re: Sunday Million hand. Is this a complete spew?
hm looks read-dependent to me. Against opponents who can fold it's certainly a good play.
