This may not be my favorite sound in sports, but it's my favorite DESCRIPTION of a sound in sports:

Bill Simmons describes audience reaction to boxing KO

[/ QUOTE ]

That post deserves the video to the fight. One of best 1-2 punches I've ever seen.

the opening music to "hockey night in canada"

Reminds me of my childhood. Still get pumped up when I hear it, unfortunately it's all downhill after that when I watch the Leafs.

The old intro of NBA on NBC and the call of a close horse race coming down the back stretch.

I was at the card room in French Lick while this was on. No one else was paying attention to the game, and I remember letting out an "OHHHH" when that hit happened live.

The sound of a fast bowler hitting middle stump is pretty impressive and totally unique.
A really hart felt howzat from the whole team is also good.

I like the double thump of a blocked kick in football.

WOW! Listen to those two shots land on Rahman's face! Did they have Lewis' gloves mic'd? I've never heard such clear, crisp audio of solid punches landing.

Thanks for posting that. I'm not a big boxing guy--I heard OF that fight, and how it ended, but I never HEARD that particular KO.

The sound of a packed pub during an England World Cup or European Championship game.

[/ QUOTE ]

As much as I hate England, all those drunk fans singing God Save the Queen is pretty sick.

Sung at World Cup
