"lets go" = "call"

From an early tournament at the WSOP circuit event at Harvey's Lake Tahoe.
Two players see the flop of Kxx. Player one either bets (or check raises) 40% to 50% of his stack. Other very agressive player and chip leader at the table raises all in. First player thinks for a bit, stands up and says "lets go" as he throws his cards face up in the center of the table. The whole table sees he has K6 as the dealer picks up his cards and turn them over face down in the muck and starts to push the pot to the all in when the K6 explodes.
Floor called and rules he didn't say call or move any chips forward so hand is dead. An appeal to the TD results in a reversal holding that it was clear he intened to call and as the hand can be retrieved and the deck has not been tainted, the "lets go" is a call and the hand is played out.
I do not play much live but read the B & M forum regularly and have learned at least one thing. Never ever let go of my winning cards until the dealer has pushed me the pot.

In the end they got it right. He made his intention to call clear and the cards were clearly identifiable to they were retrieved.

I agree that what K6 did can be construed as a call. I think it is at least slightly ambiguous however.

In light of that, what if the all-in (as the pot is being pushed to him) mucks his hand (and in a fashion as to be irretrievable)? Would the ruling then change?

I can't imagine awarding the pot to K6 at this point. Would some modified ruling be in order (each takes back his bet and split the pot or somethin' like that)?

It depends. If the other player is yelling "hey wait, I called" and the other player mucks quickly I have no problem giving the pot to K6.

Well, I'll give the house 1/2 a point for at least getting it right in the end. They lose 1/2 a point for the dealer and floor's stupidity. The guy stands up, announced lets go and tables his hand with a top pair. Is the dealer on crack? Then the floor, who should know better sticks with the dealer. I mean seriously people, is there some kind of "stupid pill" that casino employees take when they are on shift?

But seriously, K6 called, the problem arose because of the way he did so. Far from acting like a sane member of the human race he has to call in an 'obnoxious' manner.

There are SO many physical moves and weird sayings that people have for any given action, I think the dealer/house should start to clamp down, so that eventually the players learn what is acceptable or not.

In the OP example, I think the dealer should have interpreted the action as a call, but I can see why he would be concerned doing so.

Sometimes there is just a communication problem. I remember being called to a table years ago because an excellent dealer who was not a native speaker didn't know that "bump it" meant raise.

There is another thing going on. I don't know who came up with this idea, but there are a lot of people that think the floor is supposed to "back up" the dealer and never overrule something he has said. I think that is rubbish, but I know a lot of people in the industry that put "being right" ahead of "getting it right."

Everyone's got it right, it's a call.

This is what's wrong with poker atm, there's like 5 different ways to do the same thing. ("Check", "pass",:Knocking table:,ointing to your left:, etc... are all a check). Feels like a bad sitcom at an auction where the main character farts and just bid 50K on a painting.

probably been a big thread on this but it reminds of seeing vanessa rousso (on youtube.com, so don't know ultimate source) saying, "i think i have to call" (or similar) and then clonie gowan flipped up. i think that's a call myself.
