i think i was wrongfully terminated -- but being in NY and being a salaried employee i spoke to lawyer friends of mine and they said without an employment contract, a salaried employee can pretty much be termed for no reason (at will employment) so check the laws in your state

It's trickier on an indian reservation I'm sure, determining what laws apply. Unfortuantly there probably aren't a lot of lawyers specializing in this. Ugh.

You're almost certainly an employee at will. The key would be the discrimination aspect. Even an employee who can be fired for no reason can't be fired for that reason.

True: Even if you can be fired for any reason, you can't be fired for an illegal reason.

i think i was fired because they were mad that i took off too much time when my girlfriend was in a coma .. she wasnt my wife so i was not covered under the family leave act but they told me to take whatever i need .. but when i returned to work it was never the same .. and they really had no documentation to fire me .. they claimed it was performance but had no documentation ...

anyways what is done is done not trying to hijack this thread ... FCBL talk to a lawyer and see what he says .. but it is hard to prove discrimination but your journal may help

Update Bump.

I have an interview in Tucson this Monday, and one in Las Vegas next Tuesday.

I am still waiting to hear back on the results of my 2nd interview from St. Louis. I have a decent chance to land a spot near Buffalo, NY also.

It was a long dry spell, but it looks like I will probably be back in the workforce soon.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and support. I will update again when I have more to tell.

I was looking through this thread again and couldn't believe I posted a pic that said pwned. Thankfully that isn't what the pic was originally. Though I don't remember what it was.

The pic was something that was appropriate at the time, and now the originating site is a little bitter at the bandwidth. I think it was a LOLCAT.
