$1050 EPT Satellite...misplayed quads?
Hi,
From this weekends Barcelona satellite. Blinds 50/100. UTG 3375 MP1 1990 MP2 5139 and is one of the chip leaders at this stage. UTG, a tough, tight, but tricky player, raises to 200. MP1 calls and MP2 calls with QJs. Flop J J J. UTG bets 300, MP1 Folds, MP2 smooth calls (?) Turn, Q spades. Check, check. River A spades. UTG checks, Mp2 bets 300, UTG calls 300. How do you like the way MP2 played his quads here? Did he get maximum value for them? |

with the A on the river i'd shove it here.
you have a good chance that UTG plays an A (because of his bet on flop) and might interpret your shove as try to steal a split-pot - and nobody folds a boat. I think its worth taking this risk, cause it has to work only once in 10 times. |

Shove river. If they'll call 300, they'll call it all most of the time.

this is more risky i think - if you have someone out holding a PP it's fine, but overall i think its better to give at least one chance to catch up and hope for an A.

[/ QUOTE ] But this could be what you don't want! If the guy is holding pockets, then the ace on the turn would definitley be a scare card for him don't you think? He bet the flop and you smooth call. Now what hands does he put you on? Clearly, hands like Ax are high on his list, so when the ace comes on the turn won't he slow down or shut down? |
