Default I need a good wireless router

I had a DLink 624 and it was terrible. Lost connection anytime i was 2 feet away from it. I ended up getting a Linksys WR54G and there was no connection at all and i had to return it back. I live in thoswe old buildings that are like 90 years old already and that might have something to do with it. I was gonig to get a Zyxel 550 wireless router and it had great reviews. However, the lasat 10 reviews i seen for it all within this month says this router will be great for 6 months and it will just die.

Can anyone recommend me a wireless router that works and have good connection and range? I think DLink is the worst. Most ppl say Linksys is the best but unfortunately it doesnt work for me.

Try buying a high-gain antenna, most routers have a standard hook-up... you can buy a really nice one for probably around $15.

I have a Belkin Wireless G Plus Router and it has been excellent for me, awesome range and signal strength. Took a little bit of setting up as it was my first wireless network but have had very little trouble since.
I have had it for 6-8 months and have had to reset it maybe 3 or 4 times although I have a feeling some of those may have been my fault. The only other problem I have is if I'm using my laptop near our handheld phone in our lounge and it rings it will interfere with the connection until the call is finished then it automatically comes back again, doesn't do it with any of our other phones in any other room eg- if lounge phone rings and I have laptop in spare room doesn't interfere, only in the lounge IDK why

I'd install dd-wrt on the linksys wrt54g (you can get used ones for $20) and crank the signal strength. this is my router of choice

any router you can flash with 3rd party firmware. Look up DD-WRT compatible routers.

the fact that you've had two routers fail suggests to me it might not be a router issue.

also, i have the dlink 624 and it works great for me.

Stick with the linksys router. It is probably the best one on the market.
